    Hi Edgar,

Is his wound for which he got the wounded badge in black written down in the sb?
Was he wounded during the battle of the bulge or in Hungary?

    Cheers,
    Peter

He got his equipment & clothing issued by the 9 SS Pz Art Rgt in October 1944, after market garden, from this I assume he wasn't with that unit in that periode.

        ..

Hi lelez here more detail about the page and the pic:

Peter, I think he was transferred from LW to SS in Sept. market garden started on 17th (ended on 25th) September and he got the stuff on the 21th.
The wound badge was earned in Hungary I think, he was in the lazarett on 17/1/45 and got the badge on 24/1/45. The injury was shrapnel I think.

            Hello Edgar,

According to his dogtag he was with a non ss flak unit before he joined the ss.
In his previous unit he was promoted to corporal.
What I think happend is that he started his army service as a flakcrew member and volunteerd for the waffen ss.
He is accepted and allowed to keep his rank and he joins the ss training unit.
Difficult with the help of this sb to have details of his previous service, which he sure had.
After his training is finished he is transferd to an actif unit, namely the 9 SS Pz Art Rgt, as a so called replacement.
There were a lot of casualties with the 9 SS Pz Div and those places needed to be filled up again.
Late October 1944 the 9 SS Pz Div is pulled from the front and is transferd to Aachen.
It is in this periode that he joins this unit.
            - look at the date when he is issued with equipment from the depot of this unit.
With what I can see from your images, I'am almost 100% sure that he particpated in the battle of the bulge with the 9 SS PzArt Rgt.
This unit is in January 1945 transferd to Hungary.
With only the wounded badge in black citation to work with, it is difficult to say if he got his wound during the battle of the bulge or in Hungary.
I hope my explaination is of some help.

            Cheers,
            Peter

I have an FJ set from the 6th Div. That unit served in mop up operations at "Market Garden"

                    Edgar,
21,9,1944 is when he was in the 14./A.A.u.E R.

Look underneath 21.9.1944 and u ll read 27.10.1944 which is the date on the right of his assignment to the 11./ss pz art.rgt.9

                      Hi Edgar,

He received his Soldbuch on 1.September 1944, although being a trained soldier, he was transferred to an ss training unit, based at that time in the place mentioned on page 1 besides the unit stamp.
I think he was just too late to be involved in the Market Garden operation.

Battle of the Bulge, sure he was active there, and received his wound in that area too, 17.January 1945 his unit was still active there, moving back from Belgium into the Eifel area.

"On January 15, in a telex starting with - the Führer has ordered - , Ob.West was asked to move out I.SS-Panzerkorps and II.SS-Panzerkorps together with their four SS Panzer Divisions and to assemble them for a short-term rest and refit between January 20 and 30."

"The last committed part of the II.SS-Panzerkorps, elements of 2.SS-Panzer Division and 9.SS-Panzer Division, were extracted on January 24.
Entraining was carried out mostly at night and without accident, and after some divergent orders, 6.Panzer-Armee with its two SS Panzer Corps and four SS Panzer Divisions was ordered to move to Hungary."

                      Yours friendly

                      Eric-Jan

Lelez, I see now. I think you guys are right. It was too late for market garden.
Eric-jan thanks a lot for the infos.
