    Just going through some of my collection (2)...

    and here's another I had forgotten about.....

    I wonder what he was thinking when he had his photo taken?

    He served with Infanterie Feld Ersatz Bataillon 206 part of 206 Infanterie Division, 1942 in Russia (Rshew), Infanterie Regiment 184 and Sturmbataillon 186 part of 86 Infanterie Division destroyed 3.11.1943 in Russia (Rshew, Orel, Gomel).
    Wounded 7.10.1943 by infantry shell splinters in right leg and after convalescing March 1944 to Grenadier Regiment 1058, part of 91 (Luftlande) Infanterie Division destroyed in Cherbourg, Normandy 22.6.1944.

    Awards include 29.7.1943 Iron Cross 2nd Class, 29.10.1943 Wound Badge in Black, 17.10.1943 Infantry Assault Badge in Silver

    He was killed 4.7.1944 in Normandy.

    I did read somewhere he was killed in action with a US Airbone unit but I can not find the info at the moment.....

      He did NOT die, Ian (hey! Isn't it 3:30 AM over there now?! ), he deserted and had a successful British film career under the name...
