Soldbuch was issued on 30-08-1939 to Jakob Schmitt.
He served with Pionier-Batl.251 of the 251.Inf.Div.
In May 1940 he saw action in Belgium, in June in France.
The division stayed in France untill the russian campaign.
1941-1942 action on the russian front (Newel, Kalinin, Rshew)
In December 1942 he was transferred to Pionier Batl.17 of the 17.Inf.Div in France.
Februari 1943 he was transferred to Pioneer Batl.12 of the 12.Inf.Div.
In July 1944 the division was destroyed in the vicinity of Grodno.
In August 1944 the 12 Volksgrenadierdivision was formed.
He saw action at Aachen, the Hurtgenwald, the battle of the bulge (losheimgraben, büllingen, elsenborn, bütgenbach) and in 1945 in the Ruhr-pocket.
On 18 april 1945 the division surrendered near Wuppertal.

A minus is that the photo was removed from the sb, but there is a photo on his DLRG-pass.
I'm really pleased with this since I have a main interest in the battle of the bulge and this is only my second ardennes wp/sb.
