U-boot Stamp in KM Wehrpass

There is no indication of WWII service in that Wehrpaß, only that he was promoted in reserve status!

The Wehrpaß appears to have just been updated with his rank by the U-boot Kommando and nothing more!

He is not listed as being on any crew lists that i have.

I am thinking of parting ways with this wehrpass. Before I do, I would like to know with reasonable certainty whether this man did or did not see active service during WWII.

Ian, I respect your opinion and your expertise on the subject matter. That goes without saying. The dealer (BCMC) that sold me this wehrpass, however, disagreed with your opinion. After contacting him about the wehrpass and providing him a link to this thread, this is what he said:

"It would seem very likely that this man would have served along the coast of France given that no Kriegsmarine coast artillery units would have been stationed inland. Also, the U-boat service ink stamp would indicate the coast of France as well (unlikely the Black Sea for example and certainly not Kiel or Wilhelmshaven). I know my stuff here -- like Ian -- having collected and studied German paperwork since the 1960's. No Kriegsmarine Coast Arty units would have been stationed anywhere but along the coast; unlike the LW artillery branch which had flak artillery in Berlin for example. Yes, the man served in the war given the 1939 to 1943 dates and the U-boat service promotion reference is for just that. I would suspect that his outfit was under the administrative control of the U-boat service (supply, admin and clerical).

In the intervening months I have tried to research the matter as best I could, but it has unfortunately brought no additional clarity to the issue.
