    Artwork against burochacy.

I put a thread on the paper forum regarding the hand filled citations and I remember I have this Wehrpass in my collection, it has the initial entries not done as the normal way, but with a beautifull caligraphy. I think is done so because it's a second repalcement and our man was serving in the office that did the document so easy that he asked a friend to do it in an special way as a favour to him (he has lost his right foot)

Have you ever found or own another example like this?

Hi Angel,if only all wehrpass's were filled out like this then reading them would make my life easier!
any chance of more scans of the other pages?

That is very nice to see Angel,

I have one somewhere which is very similar (civilian photo though!), it started off neat and "eye catching" and end up back to the normal sütterlin scribble!!! A shame as it would have been nice in one hand writing..

Ian this is the same, started with a good handwrite, but only in the first pages, service, medals, battles and the rest is handdone in the normal way, but still not difficult to read, see here his units.

Is it unusual to have a photo in military uniform? I believed all Wehrpaß's must have the photo of the person in civilian dress?

This is a replacement so owner has provided a new picture to it and choose one showing his actual rank and full array of medals. You can find uniform pictures in Wehrpass to active soldiers prior the institution of this document or to those alredy serving in the WH when they reach the age to inscribe in the recruitment office.

Ah yes I see, but still it must be quite uncommon for this to happen and makes the Wehrpaß that much more exciting to have a military uniform photo in it.

With the caligraphy (spl?) and uniform photo it's a lovely Wehrpaß

                      Hi Lee,

As Angel has already mentioned uniform photos can be found in replacement issue Wehrpaß (however this is not always!) and those that were in service when their Wehrpaß was made out/issued.

I have also come across instances where, for some reason, a photo is not entered at the time of issue but later by the unit he is serving with.....sometimes this is shortly after the Wehrpaß is opened and on odd occassions towards the end of the war!?!?!?

I don't know how rare they are with uniform photos as I have a few but they are not common!!! I must admit and I would imagine other forum members will agree that a uniform photo in the Wehrpaß is more attractive....as the same as a Soldbuch with photo!

With that said, a Soldbuch with a civilian photo to me is not particularly attactive!!!! Then it depends on what unit he served with and what awards he had as to whether or not it is worth having

                      /Ian
