    Einsatzgruppe pass

Indeed one of the best police booklets I have seen, sure a member of the "einsatzgruppe".
The only downside is that these booklets don't have a picture in it.
    (Personal opinion ofcourse).

Bill Shea has on his website a similar booklet but then for a police unit that was involved in the "grossaktion" in Warchau May 1943.

    Cheers,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Actually, it was me who caught that one! I seem to recall there were quite a few of these on the market a few years back including several from Pol.Bat.101 (some with Trapps sig in them). This is one that directly links to a person who was with a unit at Babi Yar at the time of the killings. We will never know if this man was a shooter, a 'packer' or someone that led those poor people into the ravine, but there he most probably was.

I also have what I believe to be an 'Einsatzgruppe' Soldbuch to an SD Hauptscharfuhrer and member of the Sicherheitspolizei in Holland, who prior to that appointment was at SS Ausbildungsabteilung Konitz. I know that your probably thinking that if that is the stamp in his book, he must belong to the training abteilung. However, we also know that Konitz was the meeting/drop off point for Einsatz operations in the East. Of interest in my SB, is the fact whilst at Konitz, he was issued with combat clothing/equipment on no less than 10 seperate occasions between the dates May 1940 and Aug 1943, and on 4 occasions whilst serving with BdS in Den Haag, all issued under the heading 'Einsatz'. He was also awarded the KVK II with swords whilst at Konitz. Circumstantial evidence maybe, but a very strong contender for an Einsatzgruppe member.

There have been several (5) soldbucher to senior SD NCO's on the market as of late which exhibit the SS Ausbildungsabteilung Konitz stamp. Given the relatively small amount of SD personnel in total, I find it a little hard to believe that all 5 of these were 'training' NCO's or NCO's under 'training'. Who know's, maybe this stamp was a 'cover' for their real duty?

      Hi Peter,

No I was too late for that one.......and you can see that Graham did catch that booklet.

Although I am not a collector of such "bloody" booklets, I was very interested in that one, as I think it is one of a kind as most of the booklets that were on the market are for Res.Pol.Btl.101, and this one is for 303 an unit with more victims on its conto than any other unit.

More interesting to this booklet is that the lists with the "combat" days and actions are included.....something I see for the first time.

Herr Karrasch was at the killing fields at the "right" time, what he did - maybe we will never know, but his unit was involved in mass murder.

It is my opinion, but I really think that the Karrasch booklet is of historical importance.

Larry, thank you for the link but I did see that site before.

      yours friendly

          Congratulations Graham!

You ofcourse never going to know the details of this police officer.
But that doesn't matter, he was there at that time.
Babi Yar! THE sad example of einsatzgruppe actions.
Also I have never seen before so much detail in a police booklet.
It is indeed like Eric-Jan said of great historical value.
If you ever want to part with it let me know, (trade or sale).

What Josef Deschmer exactly did while he was with GFP 520, I also never going to know, but he was also a member of a notorious unit.

I think I have seen that sd booklet also, was it that example that was for sale this year with Military Antiques from Sweden?

Why don't we start a "einsatzgruppe" related thread, imo their sure is intrest in this topic?

          Cheers,
          Peter

            Good idea Peter.

I am off to do some research at Auschwitz on Monday, and will be away for a week. Will post some pics of my "Einsatzgruppe" material when I get some spare time.
