                Hello Holmzey,

This is certainly a nice example of a late war 12th SS pz Div Hj member that got wounded by shrapnel in Hungary.

Have you checked the fieldpostnumber and the signature made in the soldbuch in November 1944?
This w'll tell you which unit he belonged to in that period, if it was one of the actif units of the division, he most likely particpated in the battle of the Bulge.
Some little research that certainly is worth the effort.

                Cheers,
                Peter

He wasn't wounded, he had exposure,eg. like frost bite. The fledpostnummer is correct for the field unit entry on page 4.

Sorry, made a mistake thought it was a 31 wound.

Very nice "HJ" Soldbuch, particularly the photo!

I have just checked the German War Graves and he is not listed so, he could have survived the war.

                      FP Nr. 58497

                      (12.3.1943-7.9.1943) Stab u. Einheit SS-Panzer-Pionier-Bataillon 12 (H.J.),
                      1.3.1944 Stab u. Einheit Pionier-Bataillon 12 (12. SS-Division),
                      6.9.1944 Stab u. Einheit Panzer-Pionier-Bataillon 12 (12. SS-Division).

D would indicate 3 Kompanie which corresponds with the entry on page 4.

I will see if I can identify the signatures.

                      /Ian

                        hello Holmzey,

Very nice battle of the bulge related soldbuch you have, with the added bonus of a nice tarn-uniform picture.
The "pionier" battalion, is certainly not the worst unit from the division.
                        Enjoy it
Their are several good refernce books of this unit available.

Not much more to add that hasn't already been said, so... Nice Soldbuch! I'm particularly fond of the unit and associated battles, as well as the picture

For a late-war SS Soldbuch, you did quite well
