Lw Sb and Wp set of LG 1

    Hello

I would like to show you one of my two set of Lw Soldbuch and Wehrpass. This one belong to a Flugzeug mechaniker of IV. /Lehr Geschwader 1. The group take part in West campaign against France. In july 41, he went to Greece, until 43. The man has been specialy learned about Ju 88 plane (see one of the page of the Wp). He died in june 44 and was several times hospitalised for Malaria. But the reason of his died is unknow.
Have someone more informations about the 10./IV./LG 1 ? Where did he was stationned between 43 and 44 ?

Here is the history of IV./LG 1 from 1 Jan 43 to its end:

IV.(Ergänzungs-)/LG 1 with Gruppenstab and Staffeln 10, 11. and 12. A 13.Staffel was formed at Prague-Ruzyne and added to the Gruppe in June 1943.

      1 Jan 43: Gruppe reported 18 Ju 88A-4, 27 Ju 88A-5, 1 He 111H-3 and 1 He 111H-5 on strength.
8 Feb 43: Salonika-Sedes. Interestingly, the Gruppe trained Italian crews on the Ju 88 at Wiener Neustadt during the first half of 1943, so some instructor crews were detached and sent there.
      23 Mar 43: Salonika-Sedes.
      26 Apr 43: Salonika-Sedes with 41(19) Ju 88s, 4(1) He 111s and 2(2) trainers.
1 Jun 43: Salonika-Sedes - notified that it would be receiving Stabsstaffel/St.G.77 with 12 crews for quick retraining and integration into the Gruppe.
24 Jun 43: Salonika-Sedes bombed by 49 B-24s from IX Bomber Command forcing the Gruppe to transfer to Wiener Neustadt/Austria a few days later. Gruppe losses in the bombing were: 1 each Ju 88A-4 (25%), Ju 88C-6 (15%), Caudron C 445 (100%), Junkers W 34 (15%) and a Klemm Kl 35 (80%). But more importantly, the raid destroyed the airfield’s hangars, billets and replacement parts warehouse making further large-scale air operations from there impossible for the foreseeable future.
      1 Jul 43: Gruppe reported 37 Ju 88A-4, 16 Ju 88A-5, 3 Ju 88A-7, 1 He 111H-3, 1 He 111H-5 and 1 He 111H-6 on strength.
9 Jul 43: Ju 88A-4 crashed near Wiener Neustadt, 100%, 4 killed; there were at least 4 other training crashes at and around Wiener Neustadt up to the end of July.
      29 Jul 43: Ju 88A-4 crashed at Wien (Vienna)-Aspern – engine failure, 100%, 4 killed.
11 Aug 43: Ju 88A-4 dove into the ground at Wiener Neustadt, 90%, 1 killed and 3 injured.
5 Oct 43: still at Wiener Neustadt and continually mentioned there into July 1944.
      1 Dec 43: reported 19 Ju 88A-4, 9 Ju 88A-5 and 6 Ju 88A-7 on strength.
29 May 44: Wiener Neustadt, but nearly inactive with only 3 or 4 crews to a Staffel - Wiener Neustadt and immediate area heavily bombed this date by 500+ 15th AAF B-17s and B-24s. “All” of the Gruppe’s Ju 88A-4s were either destroyed or damaged in the raid, according to a PoW, but in reality 6 planes were destroyed.
      1 Jul 44: reported 19 Ju 88A-4, 3 Ju 88A-5, 4 Ju 88A-7 and 3 Ju 88A-12 on strength.
Jul – Oct 44: Wiener Neustadt - 13.Staffel was disbanded on or about 9 July while the rest of the Gruppe remained intact but inactive from September on due to the lack of fuel. The aircraft were parked in a woods and camouflaged while many of the personnel were sent off to work in war industry firms.
      1 Dec 44: reported 10 Ju 88A-4, 5 Ju 88A-5, 1 Ju 88A-6, 8 Ju 88A-7, 4 Ju 88A-12, 2 He 111H-5 and 3 He 111H-6 on strength.
15-31 Dec 44: transferred from Wiener Neustadt to Gardelegen/48 km N of Magdeburg.

        Hi Lufty,

I don't think that he died of malaria as Erwin thinks.

It says : "Am 25.6.44 tödlich verunglückt"
So he met with an accident / perished.

He never died on the consequenzes of malaria!

It was an accident as Eric - Jan noticed correct.

He is burried in Austria, cemetery Blumenau (block 2, grave 543).

Thanks for your comments and helps, guys, and specialy, BHS 1956 for the informations !
I wasn't able to read correctly the german word "verunglückt". Note that the soldbuch is very damaged, probably because of the accident (?)
