    I always take a pessimistic view when it comes to buying WP & SB - you get a lot of "The lost battalion", "unit wiped out at ......", "unit took part in the famous battle of....." when the man in question did'nt join the unit until after the action concerned, that sort of thing.

    I had little chance of working out the written entries by myself, & tended towards the view that the man was probably a dead POW - if he was executed then it would be a "bonus" as it were.

    Interesting thread & thanks for the information.

      I'm suprise that this thread has had so many replies and had so many hits!!!

      Anyway, I'm not going to read all the posts and give my opinion, however there are two currently on Weitze's with exactly the same entry on the front.....ie. the red writing and a date!

      Not so uncommon!?!?!?
