    KIA Ardennes wp

    Hello,

I want to show you my recently obtained KIA Ardennes wp.
WP was bought from Gary T and it is a real "beauty".
I hope Gary doesn't mind that I post his pictures in this thread.

The soldier was a member of the 18th Volksgrenadier division and died on 23th Decembre 1944 (I have to look it up, but I suppose in the vicinity of St.Vith).
He is buried on the Recogne cemetary.

Owning the Ostmedaille and EKII, I think we can say he was one of the veterans in that division. Many soldiers were surplus from LW and KM.
A veteran of the russian campaign would certainly had some veteran status.

                          Great booklet !

19.12 preparation of the attack against St.Vith.

20.12 did not succeed in making any headway.

21.12 had not reached the front with all portions, artillery had not yet arrived.

21.12 before dark, 18.VGD gained ground in the northern part of the town St.Vith, during the night the Div. penetrated the town from the east and occupied it.

22.12 reorganized its forces in St.Vith.

23.12 18.VGD reached Poteau to protect its deep right flank and stopping, together with portions of the 6.Pz.Army, American fire from the north against St.Vith.

And on this day your man died.

                            Best,
                            Nico-

Awesome Wehrpass. The Ardennes connection is right up your collecting alley, and the fact that he was a true combat veteran who saw action on the eastern front makes it all the more desirable. I know you must be really, really happy with it

                            Thanks for sharing.

                              Hello Nico,

A small collectors dream came out for you, didn't it.
Enjoy it, and I'am looking forward of holding it in my hands in the future.

And believe me the kia wp's/sb's for the Ardennen operations are not that common.
What I had in my hands in the past when I was looking for one was:
                              - a wp for a panzer Lehr member, a vet since the Polish campagne and kia in Bastogne in a collection here in Belgium.
                              - the sb of AA 116 Pz Div member kia near Hotton that I was able to buy to add in to my own collection.
                              - and yours.

                              Cheers,
                              Peter
