    Interesting Soldbuch

Just got a grouping to a Flak soldier with the Soldbuch and most of the award documents. He started in Flakabteilung 463 but in 1945 was transferred to 1/Inf Rgt 489. I can not make out one award and there are some interesting post-war entries:

    Here we see, in order
    1) Flak Badge
    2) Sudetenmedal
    3) EK2
    4) Flak trade patch
    5) unknown something of the Flak artillery??? Help!
    6) Black wound badge (with the infantry - yikes!)

Here is an interesting paper I have not seen before - looks like a labor unit? i am sure it is common to many of you, but new for me!

I guess this means he was properly indoctrinated!

And he was paid for his post-war labor! Good Geneva convention stuff!

Sorry I forgot. the wehrsold was also payed for the months October, November and December 1945.

Yes, the 10 Jan 1945 he was indoctrinated on the subjects:

espionage, sabotage, counterintelligence, desertation and looting.

Flak-Abt. 463 spent its entire existence in and around the Bochum area in the Ruhr. Many of the batteries there gradually weeded out and the Luftwaffe personnel replaced with Flakhelfer and Russian PoWs. The Luftwaffe personnel were then sent to the Fj and to the Heer.

                Why............yikes !....???

Just a great Flak Solbuch for a guy who saw some extra combat with the Infantry at the end of the war.
At that stage of the war almost everything that could be bombed away in the Ruhr-area by the allies was destroyed, and the airforce was looking for other targets in Germany too.
I just like it more because of that extra unit and wound badge, maybe there wouldn't be a wound badge in your Soldbuch when the guy wasn't transferred.!!!

                yours
