This was owned by a policeman and it was his official ticke to go by bus, train or tram in Munich free of charge when he was on service.

I'm a bit puzzled by this Wehrpass. The entry below is the only one in the entire pass, apart from the personal info. What can be the reason for this? I dont like the "Waffen SS" entry either...bogus?Comment

At first he was accepted as a volonteer in the Army.
This entry was cancelled and it was renewed as a volonteer for the SS.

Is the Wehrpass also issued to Heinrich Schmalriede ? The small documents states he served with the Schutzpolizei, so that will be the reason that there are no further entries in the pass. Entries about active service units etc. will be in his Polizei Dienstpass.

Hello,
Interesting in the first pic the two lower entry texts that are censored (deleted) allows for the transport of a service dog, which he obviously didn't have. Also he did not serve the Sicherheitsdienst as the first two options are struck. It does seem odd that a Wehrmacht stamp would be used by a Heer personnel officer to validate his entrance to the SS, (especially given the mistrust between the two.) There is substantial evidence that a KL existed at Minden Nordrhein-Westfalen, so he may have been detailed there due to his experience at riot control or prisoner detail. The WH stamp may have been used as an early field expedient to transfer a relatively high number of police into SS guards (this is a big stretch and highly unlikely). At this point (1940) prison populations were swelling and the Totenkopfverband was looking for people with your mans experience. But, his later document (1943) is lacking any indication of this service (i.e. mention of SS membership) so there are definitely some missing peices. Also the signature of the Oberstleutnant carries no branch or sub-branch (i.e. der Artillerie, Reserve, Kavallerie, Schutzpolizei, etc.) usually they carry some form of identifying the unit in which it (the stamp/authority) is derived, having a stamp that simply has your rank (without proper unit ID) is odd as it is usually just written in. (Ian and his extensive collection may be able to shed some light on this.) I have to notice that the two disperate type of pens used don't seem to match the type of correction they were trying to do. im Heer, SS and the date seem to be in the same pen while the Waffen, signature and "Minden" seem to be of another. Without the entries in his polizei-DP there is no way of absolutely telling. just my $.02!

The stamp is from the Wehrbezrkkommando where the man probably lived or at least reported. That's commonly where the decisions where made about which branch of service a man went into. All larger Wehrkreis had at least one officer from all branches, as liaison officers.
