    Soldbuch help

Someone I know has shown me this Soldbuch from the SS-LAH division. He wants to know where this man was from 1940-42. Can you guys help him out? I can vaguely read some things, but I'm not sure at all.

    Thanks

If I read this SB corectly, his fighting - fieldunit from 12/1940 wasn't LSSAH but 10./SS-Rgt.Westland as part of the 5.SS-Div. "Wiking".
And from 05/1941 he was transfered to the SS-Lehr und Versuchsabteiling ?? der Waffen-SS. As I can see on the last pages from the SB this man was a long time with the SS-Lazarett Berlin.

I read "SS - Lehr- und Versuchsabteilung für Brieftauben (carrier pigeons)" Bernau bei Berlin.

The 28 July 1941 he was transfered to the SS-Lazarett Hohenlychen, (Uckermark), Brandenburg

As was was sent on vacation to help in the farm he should be of agrcultural background. So he was a good man for the carrier pigeons.

He says he was told by somebody that:

"he was wounded on the border with France-Belgium, in Western Flanders...could this be so? And spent 3 years in hospital...what do you think?"

I am looking at where the divisions LAH and Wiking were at the invasion of the low countries (I am assuming he is talking about the invasion of low countries, not the retreat through them after D-Day). I have found that LAH went more north to Rotterdam and at the time of the campaign "Wiking" was "Germania" (different name). I'm not completely sure it was Wiking/Germania though, but I'm not sure because LAH wasn't that far south. It says LAH on the title page of the Soldbuch though doesn't it?

                    Thanks for help.

                      Hello,

We w'll solve this puzzle no problem, mate.
I think I know the answer. But I need some extra information:
                      - What is the fieldpostnumber stamp on his seconde leave? I just can't read it from your images, sorry.
That is the key to the question, he is on a leave just before the "westfeldzug" that is not a good sign for him being present in an actif unit of the SSLAH then at that time.
What you think is a wound is perhaps just an illness, sorry again I can't read the exact details from your scans.

                      Cheers,
                      Peter

                        Sorry,

I just noticed it he is on leave during the "westfeldzug".
So he was defently not wounded then at that time.

Alright thanks. Which scan should I look at closer for the stamp numbers you require?

                            Hi,

on page 12/13 (Lazarettaufenthalte) I found two entries:

1 June 40 - 11. June 40: Reserve - Lazarett Offenbach (a city close to Frankfurt am Main) : Schußverletzung (?) des li(nken) Oberarms ( gunshot wound on the left upper arm).

11 June 40 - 4. July 40: Res(serve) Laz(arett) Alzenau (a little town in Germany on the river Main not far away from Offenbach).

Other entries dealing with his stay in a Lazarett are not notified there on page 12/13.
