    Rob,

Very nice Soldbuch and schein. Again not my area of collecting but great to see other nice/original items.

The headstone photo documentation is a nice puncuation mark on the finality of his brief life.

      Great set Rob!

Of course we know Gerhard Bremer was a Knights cross recipient at this time and went on to be awarded the Oakleaves

      Cheers

This is one of my favourite threads, I am watching it with keen interest. Sorry I cant contribute to any more than has been said already but needless to say I am very envious of your amazing SB

I definitely have to diddo Stickgrenade's post because this is really an awesome thread.
Thanks to Rob and everyone who contributed so far, theres a whole story here now and it sparks up the TR passion again, to me at least.
This is what the WAF needs more of.

Nice work, good research, great Soldbuch!

            Regards

Just stumble across this thread. Outstanding thread and items Rob. Good luck with your search. I have a KIA SS helmet from the battles around Caen. That is fascinating history. Jacques

Thanks, guys. Glad you enjoyed the scans and the story...

Jacques, that helmet sounds amazing! D-Day/Normandy Invasion front, particularly "Normandy casualty" pieces are one of my collecting foci so naturally I was extremely happy to obtain the Holl SB and Führerschein. I've got several other SS Soldbücher to enlisted rank, NCO and even officers with impressive lists of awards, unit entries, photos, etc. but this little set will always be one of my favorites.

                  Rob

                      SS numbers plates

                      Hi Rob,

On page 1 of this thread you refer to a possible SdKfz 251 of 9/SS Pz Gren Rgt 26 with the number SS-932 592.

There is a photo of a 3 to SPW with the number SS-932 653 in a book on the 12th SS Division by Georges Bernage and Hubert Mayer from Editions Heimdal, This 251, although no unit markings can be seen, is crewed by W-SS and for interest has a strange (possibly French 25mm) gun mounted.

                      regards lennard

                        Hello Lennard.

Thanks very much for your reply, and I apologize for not seeing it until now!!!

I do have a copy of H.Meyer's The History of the 12.SS-Panzerdivision and I have seen the photo you mention So far I have been unsuccessful in finding a photo of Holl's SdKfz.251 but I'm still looking!

                        Best,
                        Rob

My friend Heinrich was in the 26. Regiment, 9 Kompanie. He surrended to the Scottish troops in Normandy. When they shouted "Come out or we shoot!" to Heinrich and his friends in the foxhole, a few of his friends continued shooting and they got killed. Heinrich, and a few more, came out from the foxhole alive and surrended.

Maybe Heinrich knew this guy. I will ask him in the future.

                          Best wishes from Per.

                            Hello Per,

Thanks very much for your post. It would be great if you could ask your friend Heinrich if he remembers Kurt Holl, I would imagine that these to men at least knew of each other. Have you sat down with Heinrich and documented any of his stories? I'm sure many of us would love to hear about his combat experiences in Normandy.

                            Thanks again!
                            Rob

                              No worries Rob!

I only have contact with Heinrich via ground mail. Hopefully some day I will meet him personally and ask him about his time in Normandy. Next time I write to him I will ask him if he knew this Kurt Holl. If it is OK with you I will show Heinrich the photo of Kurt?

                              Best wishes from Per.
