Hello all, it's me again. I asked this same question a while back with little to no help from anyone. Here we go again. I have been re-enacting a german soldier for 2 years now, and I need some " made-up " information for a soldbuch I am having made. The unit I am in now is the "1 st SS LAH " Liebstandarte Adolph hitler. I need some help on where I would have grown up as a child, what schools I would have gone to, where my conscription was, when and where recruited, what job or jobs I may have had as a teenager / young adult, etc.,etc.. Did germans have a regular first/middle and last name, or just first and last only? I am 34 years old , so I would like to keep my age the same around the 1942-44 period, so that would put me born approx. when?? I guess what I am asking is this, would anyone please be interested in typing up an awesome persona for me and posting it here??? You don't know how much I would appreciate that!!! I have been working on this for quite some time now with very poor results, please help. Thank you, Jody Conrad ( my real name ).

Hello,
I left you some info in regards to german naming practices on the end of your same named thread thread in the "living history" forum.
Germans sometimes had a first, middle(several sometimes)and a last name.Sometimes they only had a first and last name.German differs in some respects, that in some cases, the middle name is used as the Everyday name, and the name that the person is known by.
It is too complicated too explain here. Those links i provided should explain some of it.
Here are some famous WW2 german identities with middle names showing examples where the middle name is used as the everyday name and some where the opposite example happens(Like the typical english style).
Also a famous example of multiple middle names.
Paul Joseph Goebbels.(Middle name used as the everyday name)
Fritz Erich von manstein(Middle name used as the everyday name)
Heinrich Luitpold Himmler.(First name used as the everyday name)
Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel(First name used as the everyday name with multiple middle names)
As for your soldbuch,a middle name isnt important as generally you only see a first and last name in the personal section
Middle names are generally seen in the personal section of the wehrpass along with the other names.
If you are already re-enacting.i dont understand why you cant get some help from your other unit members.Surely they must be using similar examples. You may of gotten little response as some members on here may tend to be suspicious of the desire for such detailed information and feel that it may end up in bogus book for sale as original.
Im not saying you are going to do that, but suspicion is natural.Last edited by keifer kahn; 02-04-2007, 12:21 AM.
