    Doctors appointments noted in soldbuch?

    Hi Guys ,
    Just a quick one,

I have a kriegsmarine soldbuch for a reserve sailor who
suffered from inactive tuberculousis(TB).Quite a few letters from Flottilla Physicians included with the soldbuch. He was on duty near Italy at the time.
Soldbuch has a lot of sick leave entries for him to go home to Bremen, where he was from.
One sick leave entry has him returning to Bremen to attend a Doctors appointment at his local lazarett.
I have his diagnosis chart from the doctor for the day he attended and his findings.

There is no mention in the lazarett section in the soldbuch about the appointment or subsequent examination.
So my question is, if a soldier attended an appointment ata lazarett but wasnt actually admitted for a stay should it still be noted in the lazarett section of the book?

    regards Keifer

I have seen doctor checkups noted in the lazarett section, but don't know the frequency of of it being done. For example, on pg. 114 of Young and Meinz's "German 3rd Reich Military Documents" shows a man who had fitness examination for tropical duty. It was just a list of things that was checked and then pasted into the Soldbuch.

The hospital pages hold relevant information on stays in hospital whether is garrison, field or reserve hospital, obviously with the date of entry and discharge.

Hospital appointments are not kept in the Soldbuch, however relevant information should be recorded in his Gesundheitsbuch.

With that said, I have seen check-ups mentioned on these pages occassionaly, perhaps as they were not so sure where to put it!

Relating to wounds, it depends where the soldier was injured as to whether or not an entry is made in his Soldbuch. If it was the regimental aid post, no entry may be made but a wound badge could be entered on the awards page!

It depends who is filling the document in whether or not it is recorded correctly if at all! Geseundheitsbuecher very rarely have entries in!
