Help Needed on Possible Fallschirmjäger Soldbuch

    Hello

This arrived today from a friend.

At first glance I thought that it was just a Luftwaffe Soldbuch. But on opening it I notice that he has been awarded the Luftwaffe Parachute Badge (I think)

Can somebody help me with his awards, wounds and units?

    Thanking you in advance.
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

    Looks a bit battered?!?!

Yes he was awarded the Para Badge in cloth....also the Medal of 1.10.1938 and Russian Front Medal.

Page 4 shows that he was with Zerst******246;rer Geschwader 2, Schnell Kampf Geschwader 10 and Schlacht Geschwader 4....obviously as ground crew. There is also a Para replacement unit but no front line unit.......are there any entries on page 17?

Hospital wise, he suffered from Jaundice (9) can't make out the other at the moment....

Also his kit issue page does not show para clothing!

From section B on page 17, he served with Field Replacement Battalion 6 of the 6 Fj. Division

          Thanks Ian

looks like the Division was destroyed in Normandy in 44 and reconstituted and sent to Fortress Holland.

Interesting they spent time under the SS in Aug 44.

Why would he have been awarded the Parachute badge?

The only way to get a para badge is to complete the course.....6 jumps with and without weapons......

                No course, no badge!

                          Hello Lynton

Yes it came from a friend he had it for years and he was going to throw it away until I said I would like to see it, He dropped it off with my wife when I was away and I didnt get chance to look at it until yesterday and realised it was FJ. I have made him a fair offer and he has accepted it. (with thanks to Ian for valuing it for me). He is now a happy chappy as I am.
