    "Fuhrer gift"?

    Hello all,
whilst looking through a recent purchase, i spotted something i had missed previously.
On this page is an entry stating that the holder of the Soldbuch is eligible for something called a "Fuhrer gift" ( i think that works out as a rough translation...apologies to the forums German speakers if not )
    What does this entry mean?
Is it some sort of unit level, morale boosting, clothing or food award perhaps?
    Any help would be welcome!
    Thanks,

    Patrick.

    Hi Patrick,
You should find the date of award corresponds with a leave entry! The entry most probably was made at the Company level or train station on his outward journey...where he picked it up sometimes is noted as one of the train stations on his way home or his final destination 0ffice.

This can be noted as "Führergeschenk" and "Führerpaket" and yes it was a sort of moral boosting gift when going on leave!

Normally it consisted of coupons/extra rations cards for tobacco, food stuff etc. however money sometimes was handed out and I have a few that were given bottles of wine as a Führer gift!

A RKT told me that this could only be awarded once, however I have one Soldbuch where the person received 3 (on seperate leaves!).

Also there was another type "Kämpfer der Infanterie" which I am unsure if this was a honoury name or a larger Führer gift to take home!

    Regards, Ian

      Fuhrergeschenk

      Hi patrick,

I don't really have anything to add to what Ian had to say. I do have a box probably for candy marked as a Fuhrer Gift for wounded soldiers. Follow the link below to see it.
