    Question on Stammrollen Documents

    can someone please shed more light on these type of documents are there are some available on ebay but would like to learn more about them before even thinking of embarking on any purchase

    ill attach a couple of photos to see what you experten think

    Hi Polynike:

    you show us the file of the Stammrolle (muster roll) of Jakob Schwab, born 10 FEB 1915. This file was held by the draft office of his home area. Normally a private person could not own his file.

    All important informations dealing with this soldier are written in this file - like in his Wehrpass.

      What you have is a unit extract for Jakob Schwab. I can't see what unit issued it but these were kept on the man as long as he was serving with the unit. When he transfered, it was sent back to his recruiting office (Wehrbezirk or Wehrmeldeamt) and was included in his Wehrstammbuch or military file. The Stammrolle itself normally showed any promotions, awards, battles while with the unit and the front left portion mirrored what one would find in his personal records.
