    Frontstalag Dogtag

    Hi. i got this a few years ago and would just for fun find out if this is real or not, and if its rare.. its from the Verdun area.



    the spots you see are rust, it also has a few dents on it and looks old and used.

    any response is appreciated!

      Hi,
      your tag is authentic, but neither rare or coming from Verdun. Several hundred of these were recovered on a field close to Warsaw / Poland where the camp was located in the beggining of the war.
      The camp was located at Verdun later on but I doubt if your tag comes from there as it's just few numbers away from the one in my collection.

        In addition to mr.dogtag

        The Frontstalg (front Stammlager) 240 was locatet near Verdun between 08/40 and 03/41. Later on in Poland.

            Well - it's written on a tag - Frontstalag 240
            Frontstalags were conected with Army Rear commands and were moved from place to place on demand as the front advanced.
            If we speak about Warsaw area it used to be located in Jabolnna-Legionowo area.
            In franceit used to be Verdun and some other places.

              ok. is this a prisoners dogtag or a guards? ive been told it belonged to a prisoner since it is square..

                Prisoner tag - but most probably never issued.
