I have one that I acquired from a vet.... no pic at the moment but can anyone shed light on where this unit fought?

53 A"

I take it he was in the 1st Bn, 97th Artillery Regt?

1st Batt. would be I./A.R.97 so my quess is 1st Battery.

1949 I./ AR97 (1. included) was with 44 ID:

So it was in Poland and destroyed in Stalingrad.
