    What is: "Stab Gen. Kdo 18 AK"?

    Hello!

    I hope someone can help me to ID this inscription from a dog tag: Stab Gen. Kdo 18 AK - What is it for?

    Best regards

    Stab = Headquarters and staff;
    Generalkommando (Gen.Kdo.) = the headquarters of a Corps;
    18 AK = XVIII. Armeekorps = 18th or XVIII Army Corps.

    Marius, please do not take this in any way other than as a helpful suggestion meant in good friendship, but if you are a collector I strongly suggest you get a book that outlines the organization of the Wehrmacht and provides definitions for many of the World War II German military terms. I say this because your question was so basic that it suggests you need to do a little homework.

    Cheers,

      Hello!

      Thank you for your help. As I have no experience with dog tags and inscription I have no experience in "reading" them. But I were interested to hear if anyone had information about where it were stationed during the war. Now I even have a picture. I droped over it on the Internet. Do you think it is original or fake?

      Best regards

        Marius -

        Go here for information on the Korps and follow the link to XVIII. Gebirgskorps:

        http://home.hetnet.nl/~conny-rene/Ko...XVIII%20AK.htm

        There are many other places on the internet where you can find information on the German Armeekorps, etc.

        As far as authenticity is concerned, I do not know but others here do know. Hopefully, one or more of them will come forward and answer that part of your question.
