    Illness names

    Can anyone translate what happen to this poor soldier?

    I have my suspects, but I want to confirmate them.

    2. Kriegslaz. 1/521 Abteilung 17.11.1941 Frostschaden Füße l. u. r.
    3. K.L. I/509 28.5.1942 Pyodermien
    4. K.L. I/509 6.7.1942 Furunkulose

    Translation:

    1. frozen left foot
    2 both feet frozen
    3 pyoderma
    4 furuncles

      Thanks Kai, these confirms my suspects, but open a new question, why my man didn't receive a Wound Badge? he suffered twice for frosbite. Another little mistery.

        maybe because frostbite wasnt accounted as a real wound- in the sense of bullet or shrapnel or something? or maybe because he recovered very quickly and it wasnt that bad... no amputations or anything...
        does anyone know of a case where a soldier got a badge for frostbite?

          Frostbite was the only non combat related illness that could count for the award of the Wound Badge, that's why I wonder why he didn't receive the medal.

              I think it is relevant to the combat situation and grade of frostbite whether or not a wound badge was recieved....
              I do have some info re: this somewhere and will dig it out over the weekend.....
