    Fixing de-nazifiation

Have a Wehrpass where the swastika has been overwritten with a ball-ink pen. Anyone had luck with removing pen-ink from documents/Wehrpass cover ?

    Hi,

Speaking from my personal experience with 2 Soldbuchs (I have never tried a Wehrpass, because I do not own one), there are two major problematic areas:

    1. Cover - very fragile, does not support well the removal process.

    2. Pages - fragile areas have the tendency o wrinkle and then damage completely the page.

    Cheers,

    Al,

PS - the denazified areas that I tried to remove were made in pencil. I did not tried to remove stains (denaz ones) made with ink or pen. Also, I did not tried any chemical remover (paste or liquid), only the classical method.

Why you want to destroy a part of the History? The cover was denazified for use it postwar as identification so is a part of the life of the document, only time I can imagine to try to recover it if you know that someone has done this for ignorance, but I don't think this is the case, I have several denazified pieces and I will never touch one of then (and one is for a RK träger and others to DKiG winners)

My little advise is to keep it as is now.

Looking for DKiG Heer winner Soldbuch who also won the TDB and/or CCC, specially in Silver.

You can use ink erasers but they will not remove everything and may damage the article.

It's just the front cover that needs to be fixed.

Why I want to fix it ?
Because I want it original, not tampered with.

            Ditto what Angel said.

It hasn't been 'tampered with' - as Angel said the denazification is part of it's history. I'm always amazed at those who demand undenazified covers...what's inside the cover is what counts.
