    That's
    2. Marsch-Kompanie, Panzer-Aufkl******228;rungs-Ersatz-und Ausbildungs Bataillon 7, which is 2nd March Company Armored Reconaissance Replacement and Training Battalion 7. The 40 is the serial number.

      Hi Matt:

Thanks a lot for that information!

      What is a Marsch Company?

The Marsch Kompanie was a means of delivering soldiers from the replacement and training units to the frontline units. When a certain number of replacements were ready or requested for delivery, the soldiers of the Marsch Kompanie (often NCOs) would act as chaperones on their journey to the front. Those soldiers got to see a lot of Europe!

            I have only one correction...

It is not the Panzer-Aufklärungs-Ersatz-und Ausbildungs Bataillon 7, but the Panzer-Aufklärungs-Ersatz-und Ausbildungs Abteilung 7 .

Tank coys are summarized in Abteilungen.

Sorry for the veto from me...

            Best regards

            Fronti
