    Newest Soldbuch Purchase

Here is the most recent Soldbuch I received.

I have information on most of the units (thanks Ian for the link).

But can anyone tell me about the following units:

Pioniere Schären Btl. Norwegen (an Auffang function????)

Pionier Landungs Lehr und Ersatz Regt.

Stellvertretene General Kommando der Armee Korps Sperrgruppe (what function would this unit have had?)

This is also the only Soldbuch that I have seen with two covers. The original cover was damaged so someone kept the original front cover and stapled a new cover to it.

    Not too exciting, but interesting.

      Hello Eric.
The units in question were specialized Pionier Landungs Units. The Pionier -Schaeren-Bataillon Norwegen was one of three (the two others were numbered 761 an 762) landing craft equipped engineer units. Equipment was apparently mainly Siebel Faehren (shallow draft landing crafts) . This unit was an operational unit operating in the Norwegian theatre. -The Pionier Landungs Lehr und Ersatz Regt. stationed in Frediricia, Denmark provided training and replacements to the operational units.
I could not locate any reference to the last mentioned Sperrgruppe except that Pionier Sperr units did exist. One would believe their mission to consist of erecting obstacles of some sort.

        Great find Erich.

I particularly like this sort, with a lot of character, history and mystery. The double-cover is fab, and the units mentioned therein are by no means "run of the mill"! Exciting collectible.

        Great find!

Personally, I place a premium on books like this over ones packed with award listings. I like to see "cool " units like punishment batallions or specialized engineer units or nifty Luftwaffe squadrons.

For instance, the Punishment Bataillion 500 soldier with the Gold Would Badge... man, what stories THAT guy musta had!

        Again, nice collectible there.

          Hi Erich,

Here is another example of Pi.Schären' Soldbuch. This was belonging to a Alsatian.
