Can anyone please confirm if Feldpostnumber 38608 was related to:

SS-Polizei-Regiment 10

or

Polizei Bataillon 303

If not so the correct unit is appreciated

Date of interest is August 1944

Hello Ernst,

The dates reflect when (approximately) the FP Nr. was introduced for that unit so:
The first one between August 1939-1.1.1940 the FP Nr. was given to 5. Bau-Kompanie Arbeitsdienst-Gruppe Eberhardt and between 2.1.1940 and 27.4.1940 it was cancelled.

Again between 28.2.1941 and 29.7.1941 it was given to Stab u. 1.-3. Kompanie Polizei-Bataillon 65. It remained with that unit until around the dates 8.9.1942 and 11.3.1943 when it was given to Stab I u. 1.-3. Kompanie Polizei-Regiment 25.......probably as a redisgnation of the unit!?!?!

It then remained with Polizei Regiment 25 until the end of the war.

In reality Polizei-Regiment 25 was formed during July 1942, so you can see you need other references to build up a good picture.......

Intestingly both units are Cholm related during 1942!?!?!? Does this match what you expected or have you read the FP Nr. wrong as it does not appear to relate to the units you thought?

Hi Ian,
Thanks very much for your replies.
I am trying to build a picture of the man behind some documents I recently uncovered.

He was in II./Pol.Reg.10 in/untill 1943 and clearly later on moved to I./Pol.Reg.25
This is now confirmed through other sources (Location of death, unit whereabouts, FpNr)

So my man was, at his death, part of I.(Cholm)/Pol.Reg.25 (which was the former Police Bataillon 65)

Still trying to find out more about his earlier war-years but have nothing other than a name to use for that search.
The unit he was in in 1943, II./Pol.Reg.10, was involved in the mass-murders at Babi Yar in 1941 but I do not know if he was part of the unit in those days.
