Formed 26.8.1939 (3rd wave) through Landwehr Kdr. Berlin (Ausb.Leiter Berlin 2) in Kyritz (I. Bad Wilsnack, III. Wusterhausen/Dosse) in WK III; 8.12.1939 reshaped 4, 8, 12 Kp. into MG Kpn; Submitted 15 (Pi.) Kp. as 3/Pi.Btl. 654; 4.3.1940 formed a IV. (Feldrektruten) Btl. with 15-17 Kp., on 8.5.1940 reorganised as Feldersatz Btl. 218; August 1940 until February 1941 suspended in WK III; 13.11.1941 submitted 13 (IG) Kp. as 13/316 of 212 Inf.Div.; 8.6.1942 I. Btl. was disbanded;
Grenadier Rgt. 386 since 15.10.1942; III. Btl. became on 22.7.1944 I. Btl.
