The DAF was headed by Robert Ley. It was basically a labor union but did not have the same meaning of our present day unions. Most anyone that worked in the trades or factories, had to belong in order to work. Ley wanted the DAF to be the true representitive of the NSDAP but it was afforded only secondary importance and lost much of that as Ley's power diminished. It did sponsor "Kraft durch Freude" a well orgainized and well run recreation program for member workers. The stamps are for the monthly dues. The DAF did have uniforms. There are several types of these membership books but most follow the same format.
