I belive that Pz.Gren.E&A Btl. 12 will be the most frequent indication, however I belive that some tags were also issued in the Div itself.

That would be interesting to know- indeed the fact that it's a very interesting field unit as opposed to an Ersatz unit was the other thing that immediately made me wonder about authenticity in the face of no noted provenance. Fakes are usually field units which is, for the most part, quite incorrect proportionally.

Oh most definitely- but then dealers' prices aren't usually 'deals' Even if it weren't super-expensive, I always recommend that avoidance is the best policy when it comes to items with questions or, more often, that simply cannot be shown to definitely be good. So many fakes definitely place the odds squarely against it...

Not to say for sure this one is- I just have issues with it
          Off course Matt.

I'm lost somewhere between 'yes' and 'no'
Generally I don't see much wrong things about it. However as with most of SS tags on the market one needs to be very carefull.
            Good:
            - cord (this type is rather rare or even very rare)
It's the one thing I like and does make me hesitate in considering the disk from being just too questionable

            - Typoeface is ok and not very common with fakes
Indeed it's not a 'known' fake font, but I should think it impossible to say it's 'okay' unless you have a disc from the unit you can point to and show that they match.

            - The unit is spelled properly.
A good thing It always surprises me that fakers make such a simple mistake as to spell something wrong, forget an Umlaut, etc.

            - Bloodgroup and number is stamped on reverse unlike most of the SS fakes
I'd take this as the lack of a negative feature rather than a positive one.

            - nice rust under the cord (just try to get stainless tag rusty )
Perhaps- but if nature can do it, chemistry can too...

            Bad:
            - Combat unit tags for W-SS are extremly rare, most of the guys went through replacement units. However they are faked most commonly
Agree 100%- especially with these units that weren't in existence from an early point. Then again, the serial number 3 at least supports the idea that it could be a replacement disc for one lost. To me this is just as likely in this case as the seller's contention that it means an early member of the unit.

            - I never came across another HJ tag with combat unit indicated ( but for sure I didn't came across lots and lots of tags - so excuse me for my vanity ).
Ah, but you have more discs than most of the rest of us put together Al, so your 'vanity' is indeed well-deserved
