Notice how the lettering on the first 3 is identical (I'm sure about the first two, but the third one looks to be the same too), that's bad. Very different units should not have the exact same lettering- except if they're fakes. So I'd say the first three are bad.

The fourth one, "Waffen SS" I can't say anything for sure without seeing the front.

The fifth one might actually be good- I like the characteristics, but then maybe someone knows more about the type specifically?

The sixth "Afrika" one is junk. Common fake- the letting is very recognizable.

And the last one is fine- although I can't say anything about the leather pouch.

I'm starting to getting a hang on this now. I agree with you on these. The 2 first are very suspicios.

The firth is only stamped on one side, could it be an un-issued SS-Waffen tag ?

        Hi,
I belive only the last tag is 100% ok. Latvian tag is perhaps o.k. too, altough I've never seen another stamped in the same manner from 15th SS div (I have tags of some 15 or so different subunits from this div).
Waffen SS blank tag is a common fake. Not to speak about tags no. 1,2 and 3.

One thing that is bit concerning about Latvian tag is multiplied rooster number.

Even the numbers look to be the same on the first 3! Looks like the stamp set used by the re-enactor suppliers...

Latvian,,well anything goes with those and it could be good.

The tag pouch,,also made for awhile for reenactors,,looks like the same clover leaf design on it , but looks like this seller took off the plastic re-enforcement discs for the cord hole..This type is flimsy and would not last 2 weeks if worn constantly around your neck...

The Latvian is an odd one to be sure. The fact that it's a field unit immediately makes me a little wary, but it doesn't look like any fake I've ever seen. The 'un filled-in' blood group marking on the back is a nice feature- fakers don't usually mark things half-way. The fact that the marking is 'No.' instead of 'Nr.' seems both good and bad- bad because it's not the virtually universal abbreviation used, but good for that reason too- it's not what fakers usually use. Certainly that could simply mean that the stamp set came with a more common 'worldwide' 'No', instead of the strictly German 'Nr.'. The double serial number is odd too- especially since one isn't struck out or anything. On those few discs I've seen where there are two numbers, the 'old' one is marred with lines or other stamps to very clearly indicate it's no longer valid. Then again, this too isn't something fakers usually do- put extra serial numbers on.

Were the disc dug up by someone I know and trust, for example, none of these little questions would bother me though- it does have the 'look' of a piece I would accept as authentic under the right circumstances...
