    Dienstbuch 4. SS Polizei Division

I recently acquired a unique Dienstbuch that belonged to Soldat Kasimir Mletschko who served with the 4. SS Polizei Division. The Dienstbuch has an onion-skin paper cover, presumably made by Mletschko, having the word Dienstbuch written on it and the name and signature of Mletschko. The ID has a really teriific photo of Mletschko wearing an Army camo smock. An entry shows that Mletschko joined the service on 10 March 1943 and this Dienstbuch was issued to him on 16 December 1944 by Bataillon 13 of SS Ausbildungsabteilung Konitz. The Dienstbuch includes a wound tag showing that Mletschko received a shell fragment wound on 31 March 1945, which broke his right upper arm. The Feldpost noted on the tag, FPN 12658, was assigned to the 1.-4. Companies of Panzer Grenadier Regiment 7 of the 4. SS Polizei Division, showing that Mletschko had been transferred to this unit. Also included is a note dated 31 March 1945, issued at the Hauptverbandsplatz (main field hospital) of the SS Polizei Division, concerning Mletschko's wound.
In all of my collecting years, I have never seen an example of a Dienstbuch. I am interested in hearing from anyone that knows about such IDs (why was a Dienstbuch issued instead of a Soldbuch?), and yes, it will be for sale or trade.

Very nice find!----if memory serves, the Soldbuch was carried by the soldier, and the Dienstbuch was not carried---but kept seperate for internal/office use.

Soldiers normally did not have a Dienstbuch. That was for civilians working for the military.

Hello, I have been searching old threads for pics of SS soldbuchs and found this one. Very interesting book(cover) for a foreigner. Did it ever sell? Who ever has it I would be interested in buying it. thanks
