That you got them in two different places from two different sources... amazing.

Last spring here a PILE of Wehrpasses came out, literally complete FILES on each soldier with all sorts of extra paperwork nobody ever sees: dental records (Not the Pass entries, the ACTUAL paperwork) leave papers turned back in, etc etc etc. I don't remember the unit, though they were all 190X birthdates, rear area guys.

They were reportedly recently removed from the basement of a German Gubamint building where they'd rested 57 years in the old file cabinets before somebody decided it was time to dump 'em in an incinerator.

I have a couple of pairs to men who served in the same company...I'll try and scan the entries later tonight, picked up at different times (years apart in fact). I do know someone who has two wehrpasses to two men who served the entire war in Schtz (later Pz Gren) 113. They not only both survived but were heavily decorated (EK1's, Nahkamfsp etc). He picked them up locally at different times...but he does live in Germany so I assume they were both local men.

Rick, those docs you mentioned weren't just rear area men, nor born between certain dates. There were all sorts - SS, LW, Heer and some heavily decorated men amongst them. They were mainly from units based in Bavaria so I assume the files were found there. Lets hope they weren't nicked from the archives.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine found in France a box with all the Wehrpass from a Grenadier Kompanie, incluiding two from snipers. It was suposed abondoned in the retreat from Normady, it were around 60 pieces, all left from a full company. I try to look for the exact unit and number.

Looking for DKiG Heer winner Soldbuch who also won the TDB and/or CCC, specially in Silver.

Here's a couple to members of 7./ IR 184. The top scans belong to a long serving member of the company who later went on to be Feldwebel and an EK1 winner. He was KIA in March 1942.
The lower scan belonged to a Gefreiter who joined the unit in November 1940. He was wounded twice - once in August 1941 and more seriously in February 1942. He was later discharged.
I got the Gefriter wehrpass way back in the summer of 1996 from an American collector. I got the Feldwebel's last year from a German auction.

These are the promotion\award entries. The Gefreiter has had his awards entered by the replacement unit he went to after he was wounded. The Feldwebel has had his entered by the company clerk - on the next pair of scans you will see the Gefreiter's February wound was entered in the wehrpass by the same clerk who filled in the Feldwebel's awards and Feldwebel promotion.

Finally the wounds page. Note the Gefreiter's top wound is in the same hand as the Feldwebel's wounds and award entries. The Gefreiter's later hospitalisation (and his August wound - not entered when it happened) are by his replacement unit.

                  an example of files emptied

                  Hello,

here is an example of someone getting there hands on an archive/files from somewhere in Austria i suppose-I have 5 wehrpasses from this same unit, these however were all bought from the same person who lives in the region were these wehrpasses were all issued from,I never asked him were he got them from but im guessing that as stated above some old goverment archives/files were sold to dealers/collectors.I still think the first wehrpasses i have pictured was an odd find, getting one here locally and the other one from the same unit 800 miles away from 2 different sources.
