He still got payed on 29 September 1945 (!). He was in the possession of an identity card from the German Red Cross and allowed to wear a 'gestempelte weisse Armbinde mit roten Kreuz'. Signed by SS-Ostubaf. u. Div.Kdr.

Last one. There are more documents, but these were the most interesting, I think. Hope you enjoyed this small 'tour d'horizon' of an interesting "Handschar" grouping.

              Very nice.!

By the way, the number under the promotions is his US Prisoner of War number.

Incidentally...if I remember correctly 31 meant he was captured in Europe (4 Africa) and G that he was German...the rest his PoW number.

Congratulations...a very nice group.......this was bought from the e-stand recently?

                Regards,

Erich and Ian, thank you very much. No, I've bought it from a local collector in Germany, who got it directly from the widow of this now deceased vet. I offered it on the e-stand some time ago though, but it didn't sell. Since I will probably part with it, what is a reasonable value of this grouping?

                  With all the best,

                  Cees

In post Nr. 11 it is interesting to see how "SS Division" is type set.

                      Hi,
In april 1943, the division's adjudant (IIa) was the SS-Hstuf. von Rautenfeld. It is not his signing. May be it is the Hampel signing.

Just wanted to bring this thread back up top. This beautiful and rare grouping is currently for sale on the estand, and I think that the pictures in this thread really do the lot some justice. Hopefully it will go to a good home

                          Rob,
You're right. Barry Smith is selling this same lot on e-Stand. What gives?

No, No - nothing wrong here!!! Barry bought it and is now selling it. I just wanted to bring this thread back because there are some great pictures of the additional documents etc, that are included. That's all...
