What make you think he was a sniper? can you post his unit asignements and battle pages? Also if he received other medals than those listed on the page shown. Indeed a very interesting piece.

Surely it's a very interesting piece, not so common to see such an amount of weapons in which he was trained, but I have seen several Wehrpass for soldier who were "only" trained in the Kar98k but used other weapons and other trained in almost everything and used nothing, I remember a combination of Soldbuch/Wehrpass from an Infantry Unteroffizier, he was only notated as trained in the use of the VZ 24 rifle and the handgrenade M24, but he never used a VZ 24, he received Kar98k, MP 40 and P 38. In the other extrem an Officer trained in almost every artillery piece, from 75 to 150 mm, all mortars incluiding russian ones, all Flak pieces from 20 to 88 mm and MG 08 and 34, pistol 08 and Kar 98k, but he served in the stab of a Flak unit with a Mauser Hsc as his personal weapon. That's make me wonder if in the Wehrpass was a notation confirming he was a trained sniper and served as so or only he was trained but used as a normal infantryman.

Thanks Tommy for showing us this piece, it's in your collection?

Lucky man, if you feel tired of it let me know, I can take out its weight from you almost for nothing. Do you have some Krimschild awarded pieces? I'm interested in taking a look in Wehrpass, Soldbuch and citation groups from Krim vets.

                  Hi Tommy,

No mention of that weapon in this Wehrpaß but mine differs in the fact that he has "Sonderausbildung" which included Zielfernrohrgewehr 41 and he also participated in a "Scharfschützen Lehrgang"!!!!

I will look for further examples (if I have any!) later...

                  /Ian

That's a nice 'Norwegian' Wehrpass you have there. I see munitions lager Brandvoll mentioned, it's located not too far from Bardufoss airfield in North Norway.

                    regards

                      Hi Simon,

Yes, I think he spent most of his time in Norway....I have put it away but will let you know more later.

I will start a new thread for this one.........too many threads loose track of what they were initially concerning!!!

                      Regards, Ian
