        Homeyer

I am not sure if replying to a 14-year old thread is worthwhile, but anyway because I happened to have seen it...

                photos/bio. info

For a number of photos of von Homeyer see the fine book (only in German) by Otto Henning "Als Panzer-Schuetze im D.A.K. 1941-1943". There is also a detailed description of v. Homeyer's death as Henning was his driver and present when it occurred. Images of v.H.'s wife and children are include when they (Aufkl.-Komp. 580 mot.) marched out of their Kaserne leaving for Africa. Henning was a friend and was very upset with his commander's death and his own narrow escape.

Thank you pauke, that is what my friend (a DAK buff) told me when I showed my Aufklärungs-Kompanie 580 photo group (25 photos) to him. I do not know if my photos were from Herrn Henning or from other source, but anyway, very nice group. Photos are numbered from 1 to 56, someone must own the other photos out there.

                    film

Otto Henning's loading-up-to-depart photos were of the same type with sharp details and likely a professional set made up for whomever wanted a set. He personally was able to take quite a number of images during the war because his sister worked in a photography business. I knew three vets who had family sources for film like that including Helmut Ritgen of the Pz-Lehr-Regt. Ritgen's camera was unfortunately blown off with his storage box on his Panther.
