    SS Pz.Gren dog tag? - Opinion please

    Hi Doc,

    That's a fairly common one- unissued, one of the higher Stammrollennummern I've seen, not in the greatest condition though. The theory is that these discs were marked, 1-999A, then 1-999B or something similar such that the letter indicated which 'thousand' the number was in. I've seen as high as 'M', but never 'X'. This unit was created from the Ersatz-Bataillon of the LAH, but I, myself, would only consider that significant with respect to its value if the disc were an issued one. As it is, I wouldn't consider it to be particularly valuable- I've seen lots of them.

    Good thing you asked too- of the 5 discs on that website, the 'SS-Garrison' disc is misidentified- it's actually 'Germania', and the 'Polizei' disc in my opinion is a fake.
