Interesting how he glued his own photo to this document, over the stamp.

        Hi Eric,

        Nice looking book!!!
It looks like Ergänzungs Aufklärungs Gruppe Weimar-Mohra? to me......

          Wehrpass

          Hello,

Very nice Wehrpass thats the least we can say => I must look my references up for you if I can find anything about you man but it seems that when he was attached towards the LLG 1 he was rather in the function of a towing pilot then as a actual glider pilot.

Did your man have any additional awards ?

I agree with Ian on the translation => I can't figure it out in a better way.

          Cordial Greetings,

I think its Weimar-Mahren, same as in Bohmen-Mahren. Neighbouring regions.

Actually after checking a few references Erg.Aufkl.Gr. was based in Weimar-Nohra

                Freiherr von Koenitz

                Hello Eric,

I have found the following on this person =>

                Zum Gedenken

                Nachname: Freiherr von Könitz
                Vorname: Egbert
                Dienstgrad: Hauptmann
                Geburtsdatum: 24.07.1918
                Geburtsort: München
                Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 18.08.1944
                Todesort: Raum Falaise

He is also listed as Commander of a FJ - Reccon unit when KIA.

Im quite sure it is one and the same person ( note the entry stopped at 18.08.1944 in the Wehrpass ) , was he promoted posthumously towards a higher rank ?

Thanks guys for all the information and for reading that entry for me. I really appreciate it. In addition to the pilots badge, he was also awarded the Kretaband ( as a pilot ) and the para badge in 1943.

                  Thanks again,

                  Eric

                    LLG 1 Wehrpass

                    Hello Eric,

Interesting info to have => as he was entitled to wear the " Kreta " cufftitle then he was most probably involved in the Kreta mission as a towing pilot for one of the Glider planes that where deployed there during the invasion ( I like that info !!! )

Is there a way of showing the award entry of the Cuff ? or the pages with the battle entry's ?

                    Cordial Greetings,

ps : keep the WP from the LLG, etc ... comming as I love those pieces

                      additional information

                      Hi Eric,

After quite a while i can something new towards this one, i have found that von Koenitz was a pilot of a Ju 52 during the Crete assault.

Leutenant Egbert von Koenitz did fly teh Ju 52 with the following code during Crete: H4 + CA

So the Crete cuff is certainly on its place.

                      Cordial greetings,
