Hello Albert, the Italian "Medal for Miltary Valour" in bronze is one of the highest Italian awards for bravery. Only this medal in silver was higher. This is a higher & rarer award than the Italian "Cross for Military Valour".
I would consider the holder of this Italian Medal of Valour to be in the league of a German Cross holder.
These medals were awarded to Germans but not in high numbers. This point alone adds alot of value and interest to what is already a very valuable and interesting Soldbuch. I hope this is of help, Chris

Hello again Albert, it is an excellent Soldbuch. One many of us would like to have.

I can not help but wonder how he suffered after the war ? Many of the New Zealand veterans suffered. Problems like sand in their stomachs and dead veins in their legs from sleeping on the desert ground at night. It can freeze like concrete they tell me. On top of this, he had very serious wounds and all that went with that. Many of these veterans pass away in their 50's and 60's. Those injuries, that Africa service and possibly a P.O.W. would take its toll. It is a Soldbuch that almost speaks.

Thank you for sharing with us, Chris
