Here are images from the Wehrpass of Unteroffizier Gerhard Lachmann. He was drafted in November 1938 and first served with Panzer Abwehr Abteilung 8 in Freudental.

Obviously he was well behind the front line and didn't get upto much! Not even have the Iron Cross training medal!!!!
I do like members of Nachrichten units when they have awards, at least EK II......

As Ian said he served with a signal unit, albeit at battalion level. However, I always find the 'actions' list to sometimes say more than actually happened..and sometimes less (see below). Apart from service in Poland and France (where awards are relatively scarce, particularly amongst non-motorised divisions) he did not see service in a combat zone until the Allies landed at Salerno in September 1943...and by then he was no longer in a divisional unit. Is that Nah Aufkl unit an army or Korps level unit? Still I'm surprised he didn't get the KVK.

On another note here is one of mine to an Panzer Leutnant who served with Pz Regt 29 (12. Panzer Division) and later, after his promotion, with Pz Abt 118 of 18. Panzergrenadier Division. He has absolutely no awards entered and no entries on the battle page which is unusual to say the least. He obviously received combat training with alot of tank weaponry (3,7cm (t) - Pz 38t, KWK 3,7 - Pz IIIE/F, KWK 5,0cm - Pz IIIH onwards, KWK 7,5cm - PzIV G onwards, Stug III).

He was KIA in February 1944.

I can't post any scans as I can't upload any images at the moment.

            Cheers,
            Gary.

It's a catch 22 situation....just because there are no entries in the document is does not necessarily mean he didn't have any awards. I have examples where the Soldbuch has no award entries but they are listed in the Wehrpaß and vice versa, even to the point where the awards differ in Soldbuch and Wehrpaß!

With that said just because there are no awards it does not necesarily mean he did have some! I know a few people who always think their man did better than he really did and they price their documents accordingly....needless to say they do not sell many!!!

More so with this example would I expect to see some sort of award!
You could come to the conclusion because he was KiA they posted the Wehrpaß off to his home Wehrmeldeamt/Wehrbezirks before entering them! With that said it was quite normal for the WMA/WBK to enter them before sending it to the family.....

You could always write to the WASt but for Heer they normally only confirm units and ranks....if you want to get the best info from them write about Kriegsmarine members!!!
