    Hi
KM is not my field, so I will have ask.
Is this a common KM ID tag ?
Did they always have full name on them ?
Can you tell from the number which unit it came from?
    Thanks

I'm not a dog tag collector but I am familiar with the format from Soldb******252;cher....
Obviously his name is Ernst Herzhauser and he joined the Kriegsmarine under Admiral der Ostsee (O) with a Marinestammrollennummer 1274. He joined in 1934 (34) as an ordinary Seaman (S - Seemanische Laufbahn).....not sure about the latter as I don't have my reference to hand.
        Bloodgroup A.

They did carry the name if I remember correctly prewar but after the war brokeout only carried the Marinestammrollennummer, date of joining and career (Laufbahn). I don't think it is too common for a KM dog tag to have the blood group though!?!??!

Absolutely common KM tag. I guess the only interesting KM tags are the ones belonging to Beamter, Officers and the ones with the boat marking.
          Cheers
