Inf. Rgt. 8 Soldbuch on Detlev today

I missed a Soldbuch from an Unteroffizier in I.R. 8 today. Did someone here buy it? The soldier had the IAB in Silver and Bronze. I am researching this unit very much, have the unit history and even a tunic from this Regiment but have never seen a Soldbuch. I would love to see more scans! Especially the page with unit entries! If anyone could help I would be so happy. I would pay for a scan of that page!

    Sincerely, Chris

He also had an Infanterie-Regiment 8 Wehrpass to a different soldier on today's update.

Are you just researching Inf.Rgt. 8 or other units from 3 Inf.Div.?

Gary that makes my day! That is awesome news. Please send me a PM or e-mail me when it arrives. Really that is wonderful, thanks for your generous offer. And please think of me if you ever want to sell! A Stalingrad survivor... what a cool Wehrpass.

Ian I am researching all units of 3. ID/ 3. ID (mot.)/ 3. PzGrenDiv. I bought a silver wound badge document from G.R. 29 on the E-Stand this week. I would be very happy to buy any photos or documents (anything at all) from any of the units of this Division. PLEASE tell your friend I will be very happy to buy the Soldbuch if it is ever offered for sale. And if he decides to keep it, at least please ask him if he would be so kind as to send me some scans.

This is great, one more reason why I love this Forum!

Ian you are KILLING me! What a resource! The document I just bought is signed by the CO of GR 29, a Ritterkreuztraeger... That is very very cool. If you could scan those items I would be eternally grateful! That would make my month. I have been researching this unit for a long time and only found some Soldbuecher for Pz. Abt. 103. I have even visited the Division's memorial and honor cemetery in Bedburg Germany. Thanks so much for all your helpfulness.

Thank you so much for posting that document! I had had a hard time learing whether the Bronze or Silver IAB was awarded to soldiers in Grenadier-Rgt. It is interesting to me that they wore white piping and the bronze IAB. I had believed that to be the case but it is nice to see proof from the exact unit I am studying. Thanks again!

                    Hi Chris,

I don't have that much to 3. Infanteriedivision (mot.) - only these:

Unteroffizier Siegfried Zank. Served with schw. mot. Artillerie Abteilung 628 from September 1939 to October 1940 then with 3. Infanteriedivision (mot.) until January 1942 and then with 38. Infanteriedivision from July 1942 to May 1943. Awarded the Die Medaille zur Erinnerung den 1 Oktober 1938, Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse, Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen, Verwundeten-Abzeichen in Schwarz and Ostmedaille. Killed in action on 11th May 1943 in the Ukraine.

Oberfeldwebel Erich Neubauer. Served with 4. Infanteriedivision from November 1937 until August 1940, then with 11. Panzerdivision until March 1942, 386. Infanteriedivision (mot.) from November 1942 until February 1943, 3. Panzergrenadier-Division from March to November 1943 and finally with Nachtjagdgeschwader 4 from November 1944 until April 1945. Awarded the Die Medaille zur Erinnerung den 1 Oktober 1938, Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse, Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze, Ostmedaille, Die Königliche Bulgarische Soldaten Kreuz für Tapferkeitsorden 2. Klasse and Verwundeten-Abzeichen in Schwarz.

I'll scan them for you over the weekend. Just PM me your e-mail.

                    Cheers,
                    Gary.

They were issued the IAB in Bronze as they were a "Motorised" Infanterie/Grenadier unit.......It received the mot. designation on 27.10.1940, I would imagine prior to this date members would have been entitled to the IAB i. Silver.
The Soldbuch today on Detlev's (sorry to rub salt in the wounds but that might change!) had him getting the IAB i. Bronze whilst with IR 8 (mot.) and the IAB i. Silver with IR 430.

                      /Ian

P.S. Who signed your wound badge document.....here is a hint to the person who signed the IAB above.. http://www.bridgend-powcamp.fsnet.co...ch%F6nfeld.htm

Ian the document I bought is also signed by Schoenfeld. I can't believe you have his Soldbuch, that is incredible. A friend of mine has a book that has some photos of him during the Italian campaign. I have seen the site you linked before and would love to see better scans of the book!
