    Help with this Feldpost Nummer

    Hi guys!

Could you help me finding out any information about Feldpostnummer: 28918. Name of the soldier is Gefr. Ferd Fieth, served in the Luftwaffe.

It is a great uncle of mine and I finally found out his FPN. It has been told that he fought near Stalingrad and died there, but they never found his body.

    Would apreciate it.

    Kind Regards,
    Dennis

    Hello Dennis,

That FP Nr. was not a Luftwaffe one....are you sure it is correct?

    FP. Nr. 28918:

    (Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) 3. Kompanie Infanterie-Regiment 28,
    (2.1.1940-27.4.1940) gestrichen, wurde Fp.Nr. 13186 D,
    (25.9.1940-15.2.1941) Stab II u. 4.-6. Batterie Artillerie-Regiment 134,
    (6.4.1944-9.11.1944) 15.9.1944 gestrichen.

      Hi Ian,

      Thank you for your time!
well that is rather strange then .. I have picture of him with his Luftwaffe uniform. The Feldpostnumber I got from a card that was sent to his sister (my greatgrandmother ) I will post a picture of it..
Ian is it possible to tell if this particullary FPN fought somewhere near Stalingrad?

      Kind Regards,
      Dennis

Art.Rgt. 134 is the unit to look at then, however it was part of 134 Inf.Div. around Orel at the time...here's a link to the Division http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...onen/134ID.htm

As you can see, the above is a Grenadier, which is an Army rank....not a Luftwaffen Gefreiter!!!!!

Very sorry Ian, posted the wrong picture here, just found out that the luftwaffe gefreiter was in fact a friend of my gg. uncle, this is the right picture.
my father gave me the wrong pic.

                      best regards. Den

Although the rank is still wrong for the guy that I posted (Obergefreiter and Grenadier!) however the Waffenfarbe on the shoulder boards is dark....possibly red (or black?) which would indicate an Artillery unit..falling in with Art.Rgt. 134....no idea how close to Stalingrad they were though!?!??!

                        Cheers,
                        Ian

                            Den,

In the button hole he is wearing the Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon, above the left breast pocket the Russian Front Medal ribbon bar and on the pocket the Wound Badge in Black....the latter for at least 1 wound.

                            Regards,
                            Ian
