    another piece of the puzzle

Some time back I purchased off Estand this group to a glider pilot Oberfeldwebel Alfred Kallmeyer. The previous owner was fortunate enough to repatriate the Soldbuch with the Wehrpas prior to my purchase and recently I was able to add a few more pieces to the puzzle, his Bronze and Silver flying clasp documents. What is somewhat interesting is the lack of consistency as it relates to the documents and the Wehrpas (the unit and awards page of the Soldbuch were presumably removed during the war).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
    <o></o>
Kallmeyer was awarded the EK2, Glider Badge, Recon. Clasp in Bronze, Recon Clasp in Silver and the Romanian Pilots Badge. His Wehrpas does list the EK1 but I have yet to confirm this award. <o></o>

And his SECOND award document to the Recon Clasp in Silver, it should be noted the discrepansies with the dates in his Wehrpas.

                  Enjoy.

A really fine set. You have been lucky to complete this set. Mostly they are theaed apart and not completed together. You don't see a complete set that often any more.

Now hopefully I can find the rest.

Well done Jeremy for putting them back together...as you know in time this can be done and I have managed it myself on numerous occassions.

If I remember correctly the EK I was written in pencil?

Interestingly the Spange in Bronze is a preliminary citation and signed by Generalmajor u. Fliegerf******252;hrer Walter Hagen EL. I have a also preliminary one similiar to this date from FP No. L 52466 - Fliegerf******252;hrer Nordbalkan which appears to match yours. Also my example was serving with 5/L.L.G.1 at the time.

The first Spange in Silver you show is signed by Hauptmann G******252;nther Weidmann, Kdr. from January 1945.
The second signed by Oberstleutnant i.G. Paul Lube.

                          Thanks Ian,

Gradually the groups find there way back together.

You are correct about the EK1 having been written in pencil, good memory. UNfortunately as noted with his Soldbuch pages missing this will take a little more effort to confirm that award.

Thanks also for the signature info.. I suspect Hagen is a favorite of yours as I see he was Kommodeur of Tragergruppe I. Stuka) 186.

                            Hi Jeremy,

A bit late to reply but.

A very fine set indeed and congratulations on reuniting the pieces again.

On the first award document for the FFSP - Silber there is mentioning of Lt. Berenbold.

This person was also a former glider pilot who did particpate in the liberation of Mussolini at Grann Sasso.

                            Cordial greetings,
my collectionfield : German glider pilots
