    Soldbücher from the 12SS-Pz.Div. "HJ"

These are two Soldbücher from two boys inlisting in the Waffen-SS at the same time, ending up in the same trainning unit.
after their trainning they were transferred to the same field unit: SS-Pz.Art.Rgt.12 from the 12.SS-Pz.Div."Hitlerjugend".
When the Werfer Abt. was created, one of them transferred to this unit: SS-Werfer Abt.12.

Nice to find two almost exactly the same original Soldbücher.

If other members on this forum has any document related to these unit, feel free to show and share them with us.

        Very nice David...

I wish the grouping of documents I had shown on the forum earlier would have had a Soldbuch.

David: do you happen to know if it was proceedure for a soldier to hand his Soldbuch in prior to an engagement for safe keeping by a clerk? I have heard this but don't know if this is true.

        Regards,

        Konrad

I know that pilots had to give their Soldbuch to someone for save keeping before they went on a mission. That's because their was to mutch information in the Soldbuch that the enemy could use in case they were shot down, our had to bail out. That way you can find Luftwaffe Soldbücher with the mention of the owner being MIA.
But it is the first time I hear this should happen also in the Waffen-SS our Heer.
A soldier in actieve duty always carried his Soldbüch with him, but when he ent on leave, the Soldbüch stayed with his unit and he was given his Wehrpass back, after it was updated. Back from leave he turned in his Wehrpass, and got his Soldbuch back.

The last part is not correct. The soldier took his Soldbuch on leave. He never got his Wehrpass until he was discharged. The regulations were very specific, the Soldbuch was never taken from the man unless he was stopped to be checked for ID (and then it was not to be taken into a guard shack or the like) or arressted and put in prison (when a special ID was issed). Early in the war they were supposed to give them to hotel clerks when they stayed the night but this practice was stopped in 1940.

Nice to get sopme more information.

Inside the Heer Soldbuch are the 5 rules of the Soldbuch.

              Sorgfültig durchlesen

Maybe someone can translate these rules ( my englisch is not that good)

                SS-soldbuch

                Hello

Nice Soldbuch's you got there. I have one question, out of curiosity: How much do you recon a SS-Soldbuch like that is worth? You se, I have a soldbuch in the same ally. A boy born in 1926 who entered SS-Pz in 1943. As far as I can se he also served in 12th "HJ". Got promoted 2 times, but I cant se any awards listed.

If you dont want to post it public, send me a PM

The translation of the five rules reads as :
                  Study carefully<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
                  Regulations<o></o>
                  1. The Soldbuch provides the soldier with personal identification in wartime and gives him the authority to receive pay from his own or other duty stations. It may also be used as identification purposes of receiving mail, traveling on trains, detached service, or while on leave.<o></o>
                  2. The Soldbuch must always be carried by the soldier in the tunic pocket. Leaving it in baggage, in quarters, etc., is not allowed. Taking good care of the Soldbuch is in the best interest of the owner,<o></o>
                  3. The Soldbuch has to kept in an orderly manner. The owner himself is required to make certain that changes in pay-rate due to transfer or promotion, are promptly entered at his duty station.<o></o>
                  4. The Soldbuch is an official document. Entries in can only be made by a duty station of the Wehrmacht. Unauthorized changes to the Soldbuch will be regarded as falsification of official documents.<o></o>
The loss of the Soldbuch must be reported at once by the owner to his unit or duty station, where steps will be taken to issue a new Soldbuch<o></o>
