    Geheime Feld Polizei ausweis

Hello would this be considered an unusual item .I have hunted high and low and failed to locate a picture of another ,reminds me of that scene in The Great Escape where that Gestapo guy asks Gordon Jackson for his Ausweis and gets tricked into speaking English ,what a great film . And you have to admire this guys moustache .Rob.

    Cheers,

Looks like his surname is Heinke and dated 1943?

Never seen one of these before, however I do have a Soldbuch, Wehrpaß and driving license to a memebr of a GFP unit in France.

Rob, I would be very, very cautious with this Ausweis. The ink stamp is Polizeiprasidium Nurnberg-Furth. First off, this is a known repro ink stamp and has been in production 25 years. Why would an Ausweis of the GFP under control of the Wehrmacht have an authentication stamp of a local police presidency? No reason I can think of. Secondly, the two photos are meant to show the bearer in uniform and civil clothes. But, the uniform pictured looks remarkably like an early Prussian Feuerwehr uniform. The collar tabs are solid color and would be pink in Prussia. The buttons are smooth nickle plate and the tunic is dark blue-black cloth. The shoulder boards are similar in design to the police. This is no Rottwachtmeister d. Gendarmerie.

                Something isn't right about it.

Cheers Joe for the info ,I only paid ******163;20 for it so no loss if its a bit dodgy ,when it arrives I can take some quality pictures ,perhaps the only uniform photo he had at the time was when he was a fire inspector pre war ,but thanks for the input ,rob.

For ******163;20 you expected an original? You have a reproduction GFP Ausweis. The originals were an off-olive color made of linen. This appears to be a nice card stock reprint of the samples shown in the SHAEF book. The photos were probably acquired together-the German fire fighter pictured was a Feuerwehrmann, the lowest rank and hardly a candidate for the Secret Police- then applied to the aged card Ausweis. A nice period typewritter added the fancifull editions plus the common Nurnberg stamp.Notice no signature.

I guess we can excuse you for taking a flyer on the Ebay offering. But you certainly hit the jack-pot with the SIPO Ausweis. Looks good to me. Matches perfectly mine and those others I have seen. Even down to the document code at the lower right corner bottom. The Kattowitz location as well as others that have appeared from Eastern European areas over the past decade or so makes me wonder if an archive was disposed of over there. Working with the picture, the Ausweis number is 12 238? Can you verify this? Thanks.
