Afrika Wehrpass

I thought I would share my new Afrika Wehrpass.

He was a former member of the Austrian army (Inf. Rgt. 14 Linz) and was transferred to the wehrmacht in 1940.

Page 21: Verwendet als Kurier-Uffz. in der Kurierstelle (courier). In the time he was in Afrika, I read (page 12): Zentralabt. d. Gen. St. d. K. (But I am not sure of that, perhaps someone can help me out). Transfered on the 10th of May 1942 to Demjansk, after that Einsatz in Russland.

EK2 and Afrika Erinnerungsmedaille verliehen durch Oberkdr. d. Pz. Armee Afrika (at that period this was Erwin Rommel). I think this must be the "Medaille fur den italienisch-deutschen Feldzug in Afrika".

On 14th of March "gefallen durch Minen Splitter (kopf)", Russia.

Is it not Gen.St.d.H. as in Generalstab des Heeres?

Incidentally his EK II was awarded by 123 Inf.Div. whilst he was serving with Inf.Rgt. 416.

Hello Ian,

I have made a closer look and you are right. It says:

Zentralabt. d. Gen. St. d. H. so it must be: Gen.St.d.H. as in Generalstab des Heeres

For the Eintragung of the EK, so one can see that there is some resonable time between the "Vorschlag" and the actual receiving of the medal.
