Here is a neat soldbuch to a soldier assigned to the 273rd Res. Pz. Division stationed in south-west France. When that unit was broken up he was assigned
to Pz. Jag. Abt. 344 which became the 1344 Sturmges. Abt. This unit was assigned to the 344th Infantry Division which was decimated in Normandy.
The soldbuch is a replacement issue and you can tell by the stamps in the front cover that the picture has been replaced. Fortunately the signature on the photo matches the signature on page 2. His awards only include an IC2 he won early in 41. He was hospitalized sometime in Sept for a "birth defect" problem and came back to duty in Feb to serve in "Einheit Vath" unit?. Also on page 8 it appears to mention that his fighting position was run over by a tank!
