      Thank you Bernhard.
Strange to see that there are no "Zweitschrift", "gefallen" or just a red line on the cover of the Wehrpass. I thought that this was usually done. Perhaps not in this case because he was not KIA but died from a disease?

        Hi Tim,

Not that unsual, some just simply didnt get marked.I have wehrpas for a gefreiter in a bau bataillon ,that was killed in russia 1942.No indication on the cover of any sort.
On the other hand i have owned a few from soldiers, who have died from similar ailments such as your gentleman and they were marked.

I wouldnt read too much into it,its just one of those procedural anomalies we find with paperwork

            Hello Tim.

in addition to the above replies it may be of interest to our readers that the returned W.P. of deceased or fallen military personnel was to be utilized by surviving family members to support any possible claims such as pensions. The returned W.P. was accompanied by a coverletter referring to that matter.
I believe that any returned S.B. 's were always rendered useles for their intended purpose as an identification means by removing the coverpage and drawing a diagonal red line through the first page.
