    Information Request

Could anyone provide me with some information on the following units please:
    - 8 Kp (mot) Gren Rgt 30 (Was this unit trapped in Demjansk/as I believe fighting to relieve the pocket?)
    - 1 Pz Gren Btl 2105 from 28.7.1944 until 26.9.1944
    - 5 Pz Gren Rgt 11 from 26.9.1944 until 17.11.1944

      Dave,

      Try these books:

Den Westwall halten oder mit dem Westwall untergehen: Die Geschichte der Panzerbrigade 105 - Timm Haasler

Unsere Division in Sieg und Untergang: Erlebnisberichte von Angehörigen der 18. ID (mot.) und Pz.Gren.Div. - Reinhard Frank

Die 18. Infanterie Division. Aufbau und Werden einer schlesischen Infanterie Division in 5 Friedensjahren (1934-1939) - Viktor Scheffel

      Die 9. Panzer-Division 1939 - 1945 - Carl Hans Hermann

Edited - misread Pz Gren Regt 11 as Pz Gren Regt 111. So changed 11. Panzerdivision book for 9. Panzerdivision one.

        Hello Dave,

If the individual has 44 dates entered then he would have missed having any service connected with Demjansk. Are there earlier entries?

        Regards

Thanks for the info guys will check some of those books out - yes there are earlier entries in the WP, hence my asking whether the unit was in Demjansk or merely involved in relieving operations.....in fact he served from the beginning of the war, and with 8 Komp (mot) Inf Rgt 30 (later 8 Komp (mot) Gren rgt 30) from 2.9.1942 until 4.3.1943.

The Demyansk pocket was relieved in February 1942. Off the top of my head this division saw action at Staraya Russa...at the base of the salient.

Thanks for the info Gary - that seems to correspond with the battle entries.
